The travel industry has an important role in the battle against child sex tourism.

At this moment four Dutch tour operators have implemented the Child Protection Code: TUI the Netherlands, Oad Travel, Travel Counsellors, Terra Travel, Fly Brazil, the Dutch Tourism Association (ANVR), VNC Asia Travel and 333Travel. Other tour operators have shown interest as well and with several of them negotiations are going on.

The introduction of the Child Protection Code into an organisation is not everywhere the same: This depends on the size and the nature of the organisation. Informing their staff about the ethical policy can happen by means of intranet, newsletters, employee brochures and/or as a component of regular trainings. Region managers who inform business partners about the policy rules in the destination countries play an important role.

The travel organisations themselves choose in which way they want to inform their clients on the ethical policy too. This could happen by means of travel brochures, the Internet home site and brochures in hotels. ECPAT can provide companies with information material for travellers and travel personnel.

An ethical policy could be formulated with the support of ECPAT.
